Hey He...It's Freezing Out! Are Knit Leggings OK?

(top row: American Apparel, bottom row: L.A.M.B. shopbop, Threadsence)

Are Knit Leggings okay for winter? Great question you ask (He asked it) yes knit leggings are okay for winter. Hell if it was acceptable for He to wear those things, He might. But here are some things He is seeing many people do wrong.

1) These need to fit like normal leggings, tight! If they are all loose and gross well then they aren't He Approved.
2) Not Pants - while leggings can be pants, these just look like weird pajamas as pants, throw something over them please
3) Keep the designs in check. Let's not go overboard and buy knit leggings that look like your blind grandmother made.

Also not a bad idea to get leg warmers, those look real good with leggings or pants, and a pair of heels, another great way to stay a little warmer as winter keeps us cold.

Yum Yum in Your Tum...

It has been real cold in NYC and He has been a bit of a baby lately and hasn't gotten nearly enough picture to keep the blog going. Instead we have to go with a random product to start the day off. Hopefully He can get back out there soon and bring you more of the pictures you are used to seeing on FbyHe. For now here is an Edible Candy Heart Ring.

FashionINTERNATIONAL by He...SoCal

"compared to the other customers she looked pretty good."

It's a Hollister HottHe. Ya know the ArmHe has really been slacking off with these FashionINTERNATIONAL pictures. He used to get a couple of pictures emailed to He a week. Come on people, pick it back up. Anway, thanks to Stacey from Southern California for sending in this weeks pics. Apparently, Hollisters customers don't typically shop in a short jean mini skirt and heels, but at least one does.

FashionHELP by He...Fashion or Contruction?

Dear He,
Hope you're staying warm in the City. As the King of Fashion I felt I should consult you for an honest, straightfoward answer on a simple subject. What do you think about YELLOW hunter boots? Is it too much of an obnoxious color to throw off the whole hunter look? I recently purchased a pair online, thinking yellow would be cute and different, and well now I'm a little self-conscious about how yellow they actually are. Haven't seen them around in that color much.
Anyways, I figured if anyone would know, He would.
Thanks for your time,
Julie

Great Question and there is no one better to answer this then the ArmHe. Would He have suggested buying yellow boots from the start probably not, would He give you some sh*t for wearing boots if you were around He, probably yes. But at the end of the day, they are Hunter boots and they will do the job. What does the ArmHe think: Fashionable or Send them back to the Construction Site?

Thank You...Gestuz

"The Gestuz girl has a hint of scandal and sweetness in her when she meets the world. ..She's a bit of a wild one, but nevertheless charming...she does things her own way...always striking a balance between sexy and laid back"

He wants to meet this Gestuz girl, she sounds pretty perfect, looks good and sounds like shes down for a party. Not sure how He found this brand, but happy He did because it definitely needs some more publicity. Nothing too crazy with this collection, but many times simple is better. Of course the styling in these pictures helps too, hot shoes, stacked bangles (a favorite of Hes) and a hot model.

It's Cold, But It Ain't This Cold...

Maybe Lou Mistraou' found a way to keep you warm in the winter months, but in no way should you be running out to buy one of these things. At almost $300 there is even more of a reason not to buy one of these color munchin hats. Just because it is winter does not mean we can walk around looking like fools. How is no one else not realizing this? He can see it now, 10 people wearing a different color standing in the street, it'll look like a walking pack of Skittles. The Fashion World Never Fails to Amaze or Amuse.

Get Your Cruel Intentions on with this...

Well whether you want to believe He is actually a god or not is up to you, but the truth is He really is one. He sent a link to a friend on January 19th, exactly 1 week ago today, saying check out these new necklaces, pretty cool stuff. At the time, He was like eh another necklace, the ArmHe is just gonna look past this post, so eh, not blog worthy. After all, He is only trying to bring you the latest and greatest, not just every new necklace that comes out. Anyway, sure enough these things are now spreading like wild fire. He tweets an idea, emails a few people about a cool necklace, next thing ya know, sh*t is blowing up on every blog from here to Pluto.

Well now onto the necklace that you all want to know about. Nope sorry, not the same one Sarah Michele wore in Cruel Intentions, but probably close to the same idea, minus the coke.
A gold-filled chain is used for the glass and bronze amulettes. The silver amulette comes on an oxidized silver chain. The scent is included in a separate vial in case you want to use your own perfume in the amulette.
The scents available are:
Talon Signature: The aromatic properties of the Talon Signature scent will help with anxiety, disappointment, fatigue, nervousness and tension.
Avalon: Choose the Avalon scent if you are looking to guard against grief, indecision, jealousy, fatigue, sadness, shyness, suspicion and tension.
Bare Trees: The essential oil properties of this scent are very grounding and balancing to help diffuse stress and calm your anxieties.

Believe it works or not these necklaces are starting to pop up everywhere, but know this. He saw this coming.

HottHe of the Week...Lindsay

He has said it before, Legs are an amazing thing. This weeks HottHe, Lindsay has great legs mixed with high heels and great style is an instant He Approval. Lindsay is an inspiring fashion designer who attends FIT. Judging by the pictures, she definitely has a creative eye for style. He Approved and He thinks Lindsay doesn't need He to write a lot here, pictures speak for themselves.

How would you describe your style? My style is always changing, but no matter what I wear I always try to incorporate key trends that are becoming popular while always staying true to my own personal style. I like to wear clothes that are chic and current mixed with girly and contemporary accents. But I also love to mix my outfits up with some edgy pieces every now and then. I love to experiment and try new things, even if people don't understand them. Right now I am obsessed with wearing a lot of sheer, lace and neutral colors. Living in New York City has definitely made my style change for the better.

Favorite item you own? Right now I can't get enough of my Jeffrey Campbell Meeker wedges. Jeffrey Campbell shoes are my new obsession!

Who are your favorite designers? I love Marchesa, J. Mendel, Jason Wu, Proenza Schouler, Chloe, and of course Alexander McQueen.

HE Needs More HottHes? Non-Bloggers and Bloggers wanted, please be Hot and Stylish and most importantly He Approved. Send your name, facebook link, and where you are from to fashionbyhe@gmail.com or Add He as a Facebook Friend.

FashionHelp by He...Finger Nails

Hello He !
I read your post about women's hair, that guys do care about hairstyles. And what you can say about hands? Does bad mani or, overall, ugly and sloppy hands make a difference?
I'm getting curious over things, that not every women care about and every men do !
Love from overseas,
Pam

Quote from August 2009 Post on FbyHe: "Honestly, He can give two sh*ts about the colors you paint your nails. As long as they aren't gross and disguisting paint them whatever the hell color you want. He just thought he would point out that pink has become popular this summer."

Not much has changed. While He still doesn't care a whole lot about the colors of your nails, and He can confidently say no other guy cares either, they must be well manicured and taken care of. Men are animals, women are suppose to be put together. Not guy wants to go near a chick with gross ugly nails/hands/feet, probably just as much as you don't want to go near a guy with nasty hands either. So stop in, get your nails did, and make everyone happier, ya might feel better too.

Driving Down the Road, Trying to Loosen My Load...

Fail.Fail. Fail.
Karla Spetic usually has better collections then this latest failure. Can't be sure what happened here or where the inspiration came from. But whoever told Karla this was a good idea, should be taken out back and shot. If there is any confusion over the road and the skirt you are wearing, that's a clear sign of a problem.

Spirit Hoods Are Taking Over...

(pics left by He, right by LBL)

Now that everyone and there mother has a spirit hood, is it bad that He actually thinks some girls look cute in them? Yea they might be little animal hats and what not, He might have even said before they are for 10 year old, but ya know what, He can change his mind. It is Fashion by He after all. He has always said some girls look like cute snow bunnies in winter hats and maybe He judged spirit hoods too quickly.

Knit Dresses

How to Buy a Knit Dress

If you are looking for a unique and one of a kind type of dress to wear for any occasion, check out how a knit dress can benefit you.

Knit dresses have been around for years dating back to the early beginnings of stitchwork and knitting clothing with cottage industries. Such dresses are available in a variety of colors depending on the thread used, and a variety of designs all dependent upon the knitter. If you are in the market for a such dress, but are unsure of where to shop for one, check out both locally with clothing and thrifts stores, as well as the vast marketplace that is the internet.

The first thing you want to do when shopping for anything is to set a budget. Create a limit on how much you can afford to spend on your knit dress, as well as create a base idea of what colors and designs you are looking for. The more variables you have decided upon before you buy, the quicker the buying process. Once you have a budget and basic design settled upon, you can take a look either locally or online to begin the purchasing process.

The best place to shop for a knit dress locally is through large clothing providers. Clothing stores that are stocked with all types of clothes from casual to formal, and from men's to women's, are much higher in likelihood to carry such dresses. Besides a large clothing store, you can check into thrift stores in your local area, as well as a flea market. Knit dresses aren't as common as cotton made shirts and denim jeans, but with a little research and by making a few calls you can find a perfect dress in your local area.

If you are unable to find a knit dress that suits you in your local area, you can always turn to the internet and its vast marketplace. When buying online the first thing you want to do is a basic search in a search engine into sellers of knit dresses. This search will give you a baseline of sellers to choose from. Once you have a list to choose from, you can begin going through their inventory until you find the knit dress suited to your specifications. When buying online, it is important to always check the reliability of the website before you send in any form of payment or personal information.

Overall if you are looking for a unique fashion piece for both casual and formal wear, check out what your local clothing stores, and the internet have to offer in the form of a knit dress.

Velvet Baby, Velvet!

Velvet Baby, Velvet! So hot right now. American Apparel is all over the velvet. What might be the best part about velvet is that it encourages others to rub up and touch. Well, guess that could be a negative, but who cares. Dresses are a better option then the bodysuit, no real question there, to think about it actually, would suggest doing velvet in any other way. Simple dress, its got the shine, not much else needs to be added.

He Likes Ladies with White Teeth...

Method Man might have helped make gold fronts famous, but it looks like Japanese schoolgirls will be the driving force behind a new era of fashionable accessories for your teeth. Instead of gold, however, these “fronts” contain bright multicolored glowing LED lights.

The new fashion accessories were originally created as an experiment by two Japanese designers and are now being used in a commercial advertising a winter sale at a Japanese clothing store, Laforet Harajuku. They are quickly becoming a sought after accessory.

The LED smiles can easily be affixed to your teeth and glow different colors while you smile. The colors can be changed wirelessly through a computer interface. Of course they work best in the dark.

He is recommending that you pass on this trend.

Get Syren and Look Like Katy Perry...

Back in October He did a blog post about whether or not Latex would catch on and become more mainstream. (Read it Here) Katy Perry has been rocking the latex dresses for quite a while now, as seen here, then Agent Provocateur introduces latex leggings after He's post. Well He got bored the other day and decided to make all your latex dreams come true, but finding the designer of the Katy Perry latex dress, meet Syren. Now even though Syren is a fetish fashion designer, He is kinda thinking that every peice featuerd above could be worn in a non-fetish way. Aka if you saw someone wearing it out one night, you really wouldn't think twice about it. Of course, this being said, it would have to be styled appropriately. (dominatrix gear left at home.) What does the ArmHe think can the above items be pulled off or not?

Do You Have YakTrax?

It snowed in NYC last night, maybe 3" maybe less, either way it was not a big deal. The point of the story is most of the sidewalks in nyc get cleared pretty quickly, and for the most part people aren't falling all over the place. However, on He's way into work this morning, He did happen to catch a woman wearing a pair of YakTrax over her Hunter Boots. Not just any old YakTrax either but she had on the YakTrax Pro, which apparently will "instantly give you better traction, confidence and safety on packed snow or ice." Want to know what He thinks of Yaktrax and wearing them? F*cking bulsh*t. Walk like a normal person, coils on the bottom of your shoes or boots to help you get better traction is a bunch of bs. Left foot in front of the right, one step at a time, it really isn't science, its walking. But for you who cannot walk like the rest of us and feel you need some sort of cheating advantage walking down the street, YakTrax is there for you.

Another Day Another Snow Storm...

Left side of the picture, over the knee furry flat boots. What the f*ck are you thinking. He has already spoken about his hate for over the knee flat boots and how they are the anti-sexy boot. But if you are gonna add some furriness into the top of them and then go and wear them in the snow, you deserve a stupid person and poorly dress person award. Furthermore, it does not help her cause, or his cause, that the pic on the right was the guy she was walking with. That's right folks, for you old enough to know about the Ghostbusters, this guy is wearing a Proton Pack Backpack. Fools.

Long Sleeved Dresses

The Long and Short of Long Sleeved Dresses

Wedding dresses are becoming more trendy these days. Not long ago, long sleeved dresses were considered the most appropriate for weddings. But of late, dresses with short sleeves, spaghetti straps or those that are sleeveless are definitely getting more popular. Many brides now seem to prefer baring their arms. However, a long sleeve wedding dress is still a good option. Now why would anyone want to have a long sleeve wedding dress?

Classic History
Wedding dresses have been around for as long as weddings themselves. In the olden days, long sleeved dresses were the only option that women had when it came to choosing a dressing style for their weddings. Modesty was given top priority in medieval times which mandated women to cover their arms completely. Some sleeves were even long enough to cover the fingers. Since these styles were popular in the olden times, they were considered more of a fashion statement rather than being looked upon as being overly conservative. Materials such as velvet and damask were used to show off a person's wealth. Trimmings of silk and satin were added to make the dress look grander. Some dresses even had their sleeves touching the floor. So in one way, it was more to do with fashion rather than looking modest.

Modern Elegance
A contemporary long sleeved wedding dress need not resemble medieval attire however. In fact, long sleeved dresses today can look trendy and at the same time project a modest and ladylike image of the bride wearing them. These dresses can truly bring out a form of elegance that short-sleeved dresses rarely can.

Basic Purpose
One of the basic strategies of good clothing design is to draw attention away from those parts of the body that are not quite in shape and to redirect them to other areas that one is more proud of. For instance, if a person's hips are too bulky or too thin, they can wear long sleeved dresses to draw attention away from those problem areas to the arms and upper body instead. These dresses are also an ideal solution for women with bigger arms or square shoulders.

Modern Modesty
Some brides would like to give top priority to modesty and prefer to choose long sleeved dresses. But such dresses need not look old fashioned. Instead, to add a very modern look to the dress, the sleeves can be made of a much lighter mesh material than the other parts of the dress. The neckline can also be altered according to the bride's preference to make it look trendier.

For All Seasons
If the wedding is in winter, one might prefer to use the same material for the bodice as well as the sleeves to feel warm. But that does not mean that long sleeved dresses are only appropriate for winter. They can be worn in summer as well, but probably the sleeves can be shortened to a 3/4 length. Lighter materials like organza or chiffon can be used when the wedding is scheduled during warmer weather.
